Milena Angelova (2018): “Healing with Mud: “European” Balneology and Mud Therapy in Bulgaria during the First Half of the 20th Century.” In: Balkanistic Forum, 2/2018; 112-134.

Abstract: The paper follows the initial history and the social contexts of the present balneology in Bulgaria and especially the institutionalization of the mud therapy. The international contexts and influences in carrying out this policy have been followed. The paper presents the institutions and personalities – doctors and social workers from the first half of the 20th century who projected the present mud therapy in Bulgaria.
